Day 6: Beinan to Kenting 第六天:卑南到墾厅

At this point the days are starting to merge into one another. All this mountain riding and lack of human interaction really causes things all to become a blur. We powered through to Kenting and the wind coming from the South was killer. Arrived by late afternoon and that was awesome…a long day of rest.

Breakfast is always my favorite part of the day when touring.

To the top...again.

and P.S. – that woman is Taiwanese. The Taiwanese on the Eastern and Southern part of Taiwan have no inkling of Han in them what so ever. Let independence ring!

    Most breakfast places always have
1)蛋饼,a crepe skin cooked on a griddle with end egg and scallions. We usually get 4 of these, 2 each in the morning. Don’t forget to put the brown sauce and the spicy sauce.
2)葱油饼,scallion pancake. Dough with scallions in it. It’s about 1/4″ thick, cooked on a griddle. add soy sauce or vinegar.
3)油条,Chinese doughnut. Fried dough in a double cylinder form. It’s about 16″ long. No sugar, just fried starch.
4)烧饼夹蛋,Taiwanese egg sandwich. Sandwiching eggs with scallions is a flaky flat bread with sesames on the outside. I believe that these are by far our favorite things to eat for breakfast. But the only place to get a proper one is in Taiwan. There have been a lot of Taiwanese breakfast places opening up in Shang hai, but they always make these so horribly.
5)烧饼油条,doughnut sandwich. This is a carb sandwich. Take that flat bread from above and cram a folded over doughnut in there.
6)豆浆,soy milk. You can get this hot, cold, with coffee, sweet salty….. And more derivations that I’m missing/don’t know of. The most interesting is probably the salty. They take a hot bowl of soy milk and curdle it somehow and then add in scallions, tiny shrimp and some other stuff. I’ve only had this twice, but it was delicious.
